Tap dance is a modern dance form. This dance is performed by hitting the ground in the middle and fast rhythm with the help of the front of the shoes and the heel. A wooden or iron bar attached to the bottom of a shoe is called a ‘Tap’. This strip makes the shock stand out and creates a kind of melody. This dance form is called ‘soft shoe dance’ if it is performed without a bandage with the help of soft bottom shoes.
History of Tap dance
The Tap dance form was very popular in America and Europe in the second and third decades of the twentieth century. After 1940, the basic technique of Tap dance was combined with various inventions of ballet and other modern dances. There was also a remarkable development in dance verses.
Due to the growing popularity of this dance, it also found a place in the film industry. Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Jean Kelly, Eleanor Powell, etc. Becoming a famous dancer-dancer of this type. In India, this dance form was shown in Aamir Khan’s 2009 film ‘Dhoom 3’.
